| A webinar on Process Safety Management for Industrial and Environmental Protection was organized by the Department of Environmental Engineering as Guest Speaker Series-2020 on Sept 26, 2020, at NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan. Engineer Zain Anwar, NED Alumnus was invited as a guest speaker for the session. Mr. Anwar is currently working with Pakistan Refinery Limited as Executive Engineer Process Safety. He began the session by elaborating the concept of Process Safety and accentuated the significance of its implementation in the industries dealing with highly hazardous chemicals. He explained process safety is another crucial dimension to take into account for environmental protection. He reiterated Process Safety Management has become an indispensable need of time to avert massive fires, explosions, and toxic releases. Zain also encouraged students by sharing his research experience, which led to his successful publication in a renowned international journal. Students and faculty from the Department of Environmental Engineering participated in the session. In recognition of the contribution, Engr. Zain Anwar was awarded a memento by Dr. Atif Mustafa, Chairman of the Environmental Engineering Department. Dr. Mehmood Ali, Dr. Sadia Khan, Dr. Mohammad Aslam Bhutto, Engr. Ather Hussain Mover also participated and appreciated the session. The webinar was moderated by Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering. |
