Guest Lecture - Engineer Uzma Khalil

A seminar on Safety and Environmental Management of Ontario Power Generation (OPG) was organized by the Department of Environmental Engineering as guest speaker series-2020 on January 25th, 2020 at NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan. Engineer Syeda Uzma Khalil an international NED Alumni was the guest speaker of the session. 

Engr. Uzma Khalil is currently serving at Ontario Power Generation, Canada in the capacity of Section Manager- Project Controls: P&M Pickering and Nuclear Waste. During the session, she briefed the audience on the role of OPG in protecting the environment, biodiversity, and the future. She shared her in-depth experience on health, safety & environment particularly waste management of different projects like; beach-front pipe removal and buried fire water pipe replacement. All participants including faculty members had a prolific insight from her international experience including radiation safety and nuclear waste management practices being followed at the OPG.

Students and faculty from the Department of Environmental Engineering participated in the session. In recognition of the contribution, Engr. Uzma Khalil was awarded a memento by Dr. Sadia Khan, Associate Professor of the Environmental Engineering Department. Dr. Mehmood Ali, Associate Professor, Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, Assistant Professor and moderator of the session, Engr. Ather Hussain Mover, Visiting Faculty also participated and appreciated the seminar.
