An industrial visit to Power Cement Limited was organized for postgraduate students of M.Engg Weekend Programme on October 6, 2024. The students enrolled in the course EN-526 (Solid Waste Management) of Department of Environmental Engineering, NED University of Engineering & Technology were taken to industry located in the Noori Abad Industrial Area along the M-9 Motorway. The visit was designed to provide students with essential industry exposure, focusing on advanced practices in waste management, energy recovery from solid waste, and air pollution control technologies utilized at Power Cement Limited. The students were given an initial orientation session and a comprehensive health and safety briefing, ensuring a safe and well-informed experience within the industrial environment. The visit was facilitated and guided by Power Cement HSE Dy. Manager. Students observed the practical applications of waste-to-energy conversion processes and the implementation of rigorous air pollution control measures. The visit included in-depth discussions on environmental management strategies, emissions monitoring, and sustainable waste management initiatives employed at the plant, linking theoretical concepts with industry practices. |
