Workshop on Production of Biodiesel from Waste Cooking Oil

Objective:
Due to the increasing demand for energy in the country, the consumption of crude oil-derived fossil fuels is increasing, and their combustion degrades the air quality due to the emissions of toxic gases. The importance of biofuels and bioenergy has been realized in the country in the last decade due to the heavy import budget of petroleum crude oil and environmental constraints. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel for diesel engines, used in transportation and energy-producing sectors. Biodiesel is biodegradable, non-inflammable, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly when compared to petroleum-based diesel. The following are the objectives of this training workshop:
  • Production and characterization of biodiesel
  • Computer simulation of engine performance and emission characteristics fueled on biodiesel
  • Techno-economic analysis of biodiesel
