Mission Statement of the University

The mission of NED University is to prepare leaders and innovators in science, engineering and technology through quality education and research. As a public sector organization, it will remain affordable and accessible; create value and economic growth, both directly through relevant research as well as its students.

Mission Statement of the Department

Department of Environmental Engineering aims to foster excellence in education and research by equipping students and practicing professionals with advanced scientific knowledge and skills in the field of environmental engineering and management, imperative for anticipating and addressing evolving environmental issues and enhancing the quality of life through the sustainable use and management of natural resources.

Mission Statement of the Programme

Department of Environmental Engineering administers postgraduate programme leading to the degrees of Master of Engineering (ME) in Environmental Engineering and Master of Engineering Management (MEM) in Environmental Management. The mission of the master’s program is to:

• Nurture students and professionals for successful career paths in Environmental Engineering and Management through specialized classroom teaching, discipline-specific education, field visits together with seminars participation. The programme involves participants in knowledge creation through advanced scientific research and prepares students for life-long learning in the field of environmental engineering and management with particular emphasis in the areas of air pollution control, water quality and wastewater treatment and solid and hazardous waste management.

• Undertake and support potential research opportunities for cultivating the skills and professional development of the faculty and technical staff.

Measurable Objectives of the Programme

The main purpose of these programmes is to provide progressive education and training for graduates in engineering and management to meet current and forthcoming needs of environmental engineering in the region.

Programme Objective: Master of Engineering (ME) in Environmental Engineering The specific programme objectives are:

1. To create awareness among the graduating students of global environmental issues and equip them with the tools and skills used in the planning and design of engineering works related to the preservation and improvement of the natural and built environment.

2. To acquaint students with instruments and techniques used for the prediction and measurement of environmental quality.

3. To produce potential graduate students who can meet the expectations of employers by applying the skills and tools taught during the course work.

Programme Objective: Master of Engineering Management (MEM) in Environmental Management The specific programme objectives are:

1. To equip students with skills, techniques and tools of management to analyse, monitor, and mitigate impacts from an organization's operations and to deal with all related fields of environmental systems.

2. To analyze and evaluate the consequences of ecological destruction and its direct and indirect cost on public health, productivity, social and economic welfare.

3. To produce potential graduate students who can develop advance critical thinking and management strategies that incorporate environmental compliance with the environmental standards for the employing organization.
